This is one of the very popular fish series woodblock prints "Familiar Fishes of Nippon" by Bakufu Ohno. This print is from a series of 72 fish prints that were printed in six parts (12 pieces each time) from 1937 until 1944 by Nishinomiya Shoin. They were 500 limited editions and distributed only under the membership system. Beautifully embossed. Amazingly beautiful.
Object Literature: Bakufu Ohno was born in Tokyo. He worked primarily as a painter. Over his lifetime he created over seventy designs. Among collectors of Japanese art prints he is best known for the Japanese Fish Picture Collection (Dai Nihon gyorui gashu). This portfolio dates Showa 18 (1943).
