Bronze Sculptures of Karmapa and Sharmapa - Mongolia - XVIII Century

These two exceptional, rare and very beautiful bronze sculptures date back to the 18th century and originate from Mongolia. They both depict the Karmapa and the Sharmapa, who were spiritual leaders of the Karma Kagyu school of Tibetan Buddhism. In the first one the Karmapa is blowing a conch shell (the sound of which is said to symbolize the deep, melodic, far-reaching sound of the dharma, the Buddha's teachings, that awakens spiritual disciples from ignorance), the second the Sharmapa is depicted reading a Buddhist text.

Condition: Good condition, traces of age, slight lack on the base of the Sharmapa, the plate below the conch Karmapa is blocked but not sealed.

Size: Height 12,6cm - 12,1cm
