Tibetan Gilt Bronze Statue Manjushri - XVIII -XIX Century

A hollow-formed gilt-bronze figure of Buddha sitting cross-legged on a lotus flower base, holding a sword aloft in the right hand, left hand in the mudra for awareness, bloom to the left upper arm, floral crown and detailing to the body, hair with applied black pigment.

Object literature: Mañjuśrī is a bodhisattva associated with wisdom in Mahayana and Vajrayana Buddhism. Mañjuśrī is depicted as a male bodhisattva wielding a flaming sword in his right hand, representing the realization of transcendent wisdom which cuts down ignorance and duality. His typical emblem is a Prajnaparamita sutra book held in the left hand or supported by a flower blossom.
