Object Literature: Kunichika was a student of Utagawa Kunisada and previously of Toyohara Chikanobu. Kunichika followed in Kunisada's footsteps, designing predominantly actor prints. With well over 120 series he was the most prolific print designer in the early Meiji period. Apart from actor prints, he also drew beautiful women, historical and war prints.
