Japanese Original Woodblock Print -  Toyohara Kunichika - Pouring Sake and Burning Maple Leaves  - From Thirty-six Enchanting Flowers - Dated 1881 

Size: Hight 35.5cm, width 23.5cm

From the Kunichika's series titled "Thirty-six Enchanting Flowers," designed in 1881. Each print pairs a poem by one of the Thirty-six Immortal Poets with well-known beauties, the "enchanting flowers" of the series title, involved in daily activities. These vibrantly colored, beautifully detailed woodblocks offer a charming look at Meiji era life. 

Condition: Full size. Minor mark and flaws. Generally very good state. Colour: Very good Impression.

Object Literature: Kunichika was a student of Utagawa Kunisada and previously of Toyohara Chikanobu. Kunichika followed in Kunisada's footsteps, designing predominantly actor prints. With well over 120 series he was the most prolific print designer in the early Meiji period. Apart from actor prints, he also drew beautiful women, historical and war prints.
