A beautiful Ando Jubei vase from the late Meiji, early Shōwa period. The elegant form and deep saturated green color enamel. The florals are worked seamlessly under the glaze. Rim and base finished in brass silver metal. Perfectly smooth to touch, the vase is in good condition. Vase is signed with the Ando studio mark on the base.
Overall good condition, a small scratch on the top (see photo).
Object literature: Ando Jubei (1876–1956) was a Japanese artist that dominated Nagoya's enameling industry in the late Mejii era. Ando Jubei was the Meiji era's most prolific creator of presentation wares: artworks that were commissioned by members of the Imperial Family for presentation to foreign dignitaries. He exhibited at the Japan-British Exhibition of 1910. His work is held in the collections of many museums around the world.
