Object literature: Saitō Musashibō Benkei (1155–1189) was a legendary warrior-monk known for his immense strength and unwavering loyalty to Minamoto no Yoshitsune. Born as Oniwakamaru, he became Yoshitsune's loyal retainer and fought alongside him in numerous battles. Benkei's most famous feat was his defense of Yoshitsune's stronghold, where he held off an entire army alone to allow his lord to escape. Despite his bravery, Benkei ultimately met his end while protecting Yoshitsune from pursuing forces, solidifying his legacy as a symbol of loyalty and honor in Japanese folklore.
